As
an organization of young active citizens and agents for change, the Junior
Chamber International – Kagayhaan Gold joins the United Nations in fulfilling
the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) which aims to address the pressing
issues and concerns related to poverty, gender, environment, health, and
education in our communities.
The
UNMDG is already approaching its completion as these concerns are supposed to
be addressed by 2015. However, we believe that it is not too late in
contributing to the fulfillment of this advocacy. Therefore, we are still
implementing activities UNMDG-related. Also, there is a Post UN Agenda that
aims to seek for more specific concerns to be advocated after 2015.
We
already did a lot of activities in the previous years for UNMDG. For this year,
we decided to involve students and teachers through a Poster Making Competition
and Exhibit with the theme “UNMDG in the 21st Century: We Unite for
a Better World”. The competition will be on August 9, 2014, along with a My
World Forum for teachers and high school participants, and the exhibit shall
run from August 11 – 22, 2014.
